FAMILY

 francois23.gif image by cosmicstara

My Nana truly defines the word family as I have come to learn and live it.

She was a SISTER

7 brothers who were dare to here, George was her travel companion and she loved to travel. And she had 1 sister Aunt Annie was not just her sister but there were best friends, she would always talk about her to me.

She was a WIFE

all though I never got the chance to know my grandfather she made sure I knew him by telling me all about him and her face would still to this day light up when she talked about him.

SHE WAS A  MOTHER

to her two daughters, my mom Patricia, and my Auntie Carol, and how I see so much of her in them, her uncondition love, her gift of giving-mostly of themselves, if you never got the chance to really know my nan, just look at who her daughter are today she shines thru her daughters the most! And I hope that I can pass just a piece of her thru my own children as a mother. When I ask my mom & aunt to tell me about there mother, I feel such a sense of pride, joy and love they have for her.,

She was a

Grandmother and Great Grandmother

she had 7 grandkids and 14 great grandchildren that brought such joy to her life, a joy that illuminated her face whenever you saw them together, and each one of us have wonderful memories of things she share with us, time she gave to each and everyone of us. She loved to knit and we all had plenty of slippers and hats to last a life time, she always wanted us to be warm, but warmed , mostly by her love!

Now I want to tell you about her Character

Nan was a strong willed woman, some might use the word stubborn, she almost always got her way and when she didn’t, o boy watch out you were definetly in for a argument. I think we all have some of that quality in us, she was very strongly opinionated, she would tell it like it is! But she would start with love and end with love. She was fiesty, witty and had such a sense of humor, sometimes you just never know what was going to come out of her mouth and she would shock you but in a funny way. She was so far from your typical grandmother, she was hip, and no matter what age us grandchildren were, she could keep up with all of us. I loved that about her, I know I could always go to her about anything.

Beauty/Grace

She always cared so such much about her appearance always wanting to look her best, from taking care of her skin, to beauty tips she shared with us girls, weekly visits to the hair dressers. She always carried her self with grace and with so much confidence in herself.

Joy/Laughter

Nan’s sense of joy for life was enough to make us all smile no matter the circumstances.

She loved to play Cards & Bingo, She would spend hours doing seek & find puzzles, whenever I went to visit her, she would tell me the candle jar was full, butterscotch candles where her favorite. I know that we all have our own example of moments when, Nan would say or do something to make us unexpectedly laugh. I so loved that about her. One thing is certain and that is that we all will continue to hear her laughter and remember Nan’s joy that can maybe help us all to not take life so seriously.

Lastly LOVE

above all, she was an example of what unconditional love is, that is what she has taught me the most, in the raising of her daughters, to the teaching & wisdom she has taught all her grand children & great grandchildren, and in how she welcomed in new family & friends, her strong unconditional love is what has made our family what it is today and what will keep us together from this day forward.

Nan you have been more to me then you can possible imagine, whatever the distance will be between us, you can look down upon me from heaven and know that your love, character, beauty and grace, and love for life, is what makes me want to be a better woman today!!

lOVE YOU FOREVER /GRANDAUGHTER JEAN
